Project: Divine Friendship
Lately there is a lot of talk on social media about divine relationships and the divine feminine/masculine and it truly is a beautiful thing. It’s a spiritual concept stemming from many ancient cultures across the world, however the message it portraits is for everyone who resonates. It shifts the focus on love, growth and boundaries in not only our perception and handling of self, but in addition to that, on the collective together. Wether that be in romantic or platonic relationships, or the entirety of the world. It can be used as a tool to be and feel better as a human to oneself and others.
As this was a personal experiment, I tried out multiple different ways to edit the images in Adobe Lightroom and all of them equally gave me the story that I was looking to capture. I wanted to create a diverse set of moods to capture the many layers of this concept. Some of the portraits have a colder feel to them, though they still have hints of warmth to represent the warmth we have within ourselves. In some of the pictures, more yellow and red tones were used to create a warmer feeling because it shows the bond between two people, whereas the black and white images give off a feeling of timeless unity and the power of togetherness.
My two incredible friends Chiara and Lorenzo went on this journey with me and part of the inspiration of this, is our own story. We live across the world, after texting for 4 years we finally got to meet up and we all clicked immediately, love from Argentina to Switzerland.
This concept came to life in the midst of going through a heartbreak, where life seems to fall apart a little and friendship represents a warm pillow to fall back on. Analysing the relationships that I have with my friends changed my perspective on everything. How I want to live and go through life, with whom I want to share it and most importantly an exchange that feels healing and loving, away from all toxicity and towards kindness and understanding. I learned the meaning of love through my friends because they give me the blueprint of what kind of relationships I want in my life, how I want to treat people and how I want to be treated.
This is a visual love story between humans, a story of the importance of friendship and holding each other through the ups and downs in life. Something that shouldn’t be viewed as an attribute of exclusively romantic relationships. It can be found everywhere where a genuine connection forms.
