Final Project Shoot
These two beautiful women finished their education as seamstresses and I had the honour to capture their final looks. Almost everything you see is handmade, including the prints on the fabrics. Both Chiara and Laura are extremely unique and they give off very different vibes, though both are a great representation of their creativity and talent. They created very different looks that both tell a story through their details and backgrounds.
My beautiful collaborators and the designers of these outfits were Laura Nützi and Chiara Nardon. It’s an ode to individuality and creativity, to follow your inspiration and create what your heart tells you to. Chiara’s upcoming brand: Instagram @mahastu.dio take a look!
As I wanted the focus to be on the clothing and them as individuals, I set up my improvised home studio with a white backdrop. It’s always hard to capture good lighting with limited resources but we did our best.
The styling was entirely up to them and I just let them paint the white canvas with their own personality and uniqueness.
I tried to capture as many details as possible to let the different textures shine. While editing I decided for some of the photos to be in colour to showcase the different prints and elements of their looks, like the corset Chiara made from sippers and the red embroidery on the back of Lauras dress. Others I wanted to be black and white as I feel like the intensity of them as individuals pops in these photos. I love black and white photos because to me, they show a pure form of someone without colourful distractions, to me it just leaves texture and emotion.
The posing was a very important part of this shooting, as the purpose was to accentuate the details and thoughts put into these outfits and to accurately show all the elements of the final designs they made in their apprenticeship.
